Frank was named the 1961 National League Most Valuable Player when he played for the Cincinnati Reds, and Robinson was named the 1966 American League MVP when he played with the Baltimore Orioles. Due to these two achievements, Frank Robinson became the first and only Major League Baseball player to win the MVP Award in both leagues!

Baseball, basketball, and football are America’s most popular team sports. Yesterday the Warriors won the NBA Finals. Due to their victory, the city of Oakland won its ninth professional title!
Since the ABA produced many marquee players, like Rick Barry and Julius Erving, the 1968-1969 Oaks represented Oakland’s first championship. The other Oakland titles were the 1972 A’s, 1973 A’s, 1974 A’s, 1974-1975 Warriors, 1976 Raiders, 1980 Raiders, 1989 A’s, and 2014-2015 Warriors.

In Game Five of the 2002 World Series, which I attended, “Dusty” Baker’s son, Darren, was San Francisco’s batboy. In the seventh inning, Darren was almost run over at home plate. Fortunately, the Giants’ J.T. Snow picked Darren up, so he was safe. Since Darren was only three years old, Major League Baseball then required batboys to be at least fourteen years old. Thus, the “Darren Baker Rule” was established. So, my ninetieth video features Darren and “Dusty” Baker.

“Two World Series Trophies”
From 1901 through 1954, there were two baseball teams in Philadelphia: the Athletics and Phillies. During this era, the Athletics won five Fall Classics. Also, from July 4, 1938 through 1954, the Athletics and Phillies shared a stadium. Although the Phillies didn’t win a World Series while the Athletics played in the “City of Brotherly Love,” they later won Fall Classics in 1980 and 2008.
Since 1968, there have been two baseball teams in the Bay Area: the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants. Before San Francisco won their two World Series titles, Oakland won four Fall Classics.
On January 25, 2013, I attended Tim Flannery’s concert in Mill Valley, California. Not only is Tim a super San Francisco coach, but also he is a great guitarist. During “Loser,” he played marvelous music with the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir while both of San Francisco’s World Series trophies were displayed on the Sweetwater Stage. So, my eighty-seventh video features this historic moment!
Even though the Athletics won more Fall Classics than their previous neighbor and current one, the Giants and Phillies possess superb stadiums. At Citizens Bank Park, you can see Ashburn Alley, the Philadelphia Baseball Wall of Fame, and the Phillie Phanatic. At AT&T Park, you can see spectacular views, McCovey Cove, and the San Francisco Giants Wall of Fame. For a franchise that has won nine championships, the Athletics deserve a new or renovated stadium!

Tom Meschery played for the Philadelphia and San Francisco Warriors! He is only one of six Warriors to have his number retired.
Tom is also a terrific poet. As a matter of fact, his book, Nothing We Lose Can Be Replaced, contains basketball poems. Fortunatley, I filmed Meschery reading three of them, which were about Hakeem Olajuwon, Willis Reed, and himself. Thus, my fifty-seventh video features Tom Meschery’s poetical performance.

From 1965 to 1995, Phil Lesh effectively played the bass for the Grateful Dead. His “Box of Rain” was a superb song!
Currently, one of Phil’s bands is called Furthur. Also, in San Rafael, he has a wonderful restaurant and music venue called Terrapin Crossroads.
Not only is Phil a magnificent musician, but also he published a best-selling book. In addition, Lesh is a baseball fan. As a matter of fact, he sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” before MLB games. Therefore, my fifty-sixth video features him. Thanks to Brian Lesh for filming the poem.

Dick Vermeil has northern California and Philadelphia connections. Not only did Dick attend Calistoga High School, but also he was the head of the Eagles!

My forty-eighth video features Philadelphia’s Mike Schmidt, Greg Luzinski, Hunter Pence, and Vance Worley! Thanks to Barry and Sara Shapiro for filming the Phillies Phestival.
The greatest third baseman ever was Michael Jack Schmidt! In the 1980 Fall Classic, Philadelphia defeated Kansas City because Schmidt earned eight hits, seven RBI, and six runs! So, he was named the World Series MVP.
In the 1980 NLCS, Philadelphia defeated Houston because Greg Luzinski earned five hits, four RBI, and three runs!
In 2012, Hunter Pence played for Philadelphia and San Francisco. Before Game Three of the 2012 NLDS, he made a magnificent motivational speech, so his Giants defeated the Reds. Then, in Game Seven of the 2012 NLCS, his third-inning, two-run double was extraordinary because the baseball hit his bat three times. Finally, in Games Two, Three, and Four of 2012 World Series, Pence scored a run in each of those Giants’ wins!
Vance Worley is from Sacramento, and he pitched for the Phillies. In 2011, he won eleven games, yet only lost three contests!

My fortieth video features a question to San Francisco’s Ryan Vogelsong. Like “Rocky” Balboa and Vince Papale, he never gave up! Thus, his story is inspirational. In the 2012 postseason, Ryan earned three wins and a 1.09 ERA, so his Giants won the World Series.
Also, San Francisco’s Freddy Sanchez appears in this video. In 2010, he became the first player to hit doubles in his first three World Series at-bats! Then, in Game Five of the Fall Classic, Sanchez’s Giants clinched the World Series when they defeated the Rangers.

My thirty-seventh video features former members of the Oakland Athletics. At the 2012 Athletics Fan Festival, I met Scott Hatteberg, David Justice, Ray Fosse, Joe Rudi, Vida Blue, and Gene Tenace.
The 2002 Athletics featured Scott Hatteberg and David Justice. They won twenty consecutive games, which set an American League record!
In 2003, Michael Lewis published Moneyball, which became a best-selling book. In this book, there is an entire chapter about Scott Hatteberg, and David Justice is discussed, too. Then, in 2011, Moneyball became a magnificent movie.
In the 1970s, Ray Fosse, Joe Rudi, Vida Blue, and Gene Tenace led the amazing Athletics to five consecutive divisional titles and three World Series championships. As a matter of fact, those four champions just appeared in Comcast SportsNet California’s documentary entitled, Legends: Oakland A’s, The Forgotten Dynasty.

Not only was Richie Ashburn a fantastic Philadelphia Phillie, but also he was the New York Mets’ first-ever All-Star in 1962. As a matter of fact, Jon Miller’s story is about Ashburn’s Mets.
Since 1997, Jon Miller has been an amazing analyst for the San Francisco Giants! Also, Jon Miller and Joe Morgan broadcasted baseball games on ESPN for 21 consecutive years.

In the 2002 World Series, the Anaheim Angels defeated the San Francisco Giants in seven games. The Giants’ manager was Dusty Baker, and his son, Darren, was a bat boy. In the seventh inning of Game Five, J.T. Snow prevented a collision at home plate by picking up Darren. Therefore, my twenty-ninth video features J.T. Snow. He was a fantastic first baseman! In that close Fall Classic, the following eleven players had connections to the Bay Area or Philadelphia: Darren Daulton, Jim Eisenreich, Livan Hernandez, Orel Hershiser, David Justice, Robb Nen, Edgar Renteria, Bip Roberts, Jim Thome, Omar Vizquel, and Matt Williams.

In each of America’s four fabulous leagues, there was an unbeaten streak led by a Bay Area or Philadelphia legend!
Recently, the Oakland Athletics celebrated the tenth anniversary of their twenty-game winning streak, which set an American League record. Their streak occurred from August 13, 2002 to September 4, 2002. Also, the amazing A’s featured the “Big Three,” and some of Billy Beane’s Athletics were featured in a magnificent movie, entitled Moneyball.
Second, from November 5, 1971 to January 7, 1972, Wilt Chamberlain’s Lakers set an NBA record with a 33-game winning streak.
Third, from October 5, 2003 to October 24, 2004, Tom Brady’s Patriots set an NFL record with a 21-game winning streak, which included a Super Bowl victory.
Finally, from October 14, 1979 to January 6, 1980, the fantastic Flyers set an NHL record with a 35-game unbeaten streak. As a matter of fact, Brian Propp played on that terrific team. So, my twenty-seventh video features a poem about him. Propp was a playoff performer!

Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann are dynamic drummers. When they played with the Grateful Dead, they were known as the “Rhythm Devils.” As a matter of fact, the New Jersey Devils have won three Stanley Cups. However, the Los Angeles Kings, also known as “Flyers West,” clinched their first Cup last night when they defeated the Devils in Game Six of the NHL Finals.
Mickey Hart is a magnificent musician. In 1991, Hart’s Planet Drum won a Grammy for the Best World Music Album.
Like hockey, basketball is a superb sport. So, enjoy watching the 2012 NBA Finals, which begin tonight.
Bill Walton was a two-time NBA champion, and he was the MVP of the 1977 NBA Finals. Not only was Walton a fantastic center, but also he was an amazing analyst.

In 1975, my father, Dr. Auday, was the doctor of the Philadelphia Wings. Their home games were played at The Spectrum, so I attended some of them.
Also, I saw many 76ers & Flyers games and concerts at The Spectrum. My former soccer team, the Penn Valley Mustangs, even played a game there.
My tenth video features a poem about The Spectrum, which I read to Lou Scheinfeld. Not only did Lou name the building, but also he came up with the idea for Kate Smith to sing “God Bless America” before Flyers games.

My seventh video features Philadelphia’s Bernie Parent. In 1974 and 1975, Bernie won the Conn Smythe and Vezina Trophies when he led the Flyers to their only two Stanley Cups. Thus, he is the greatest goalie in Flyers’ history.
Since the video is blurry, I would like to film the poem again. Plus, I have revised it.

As an eight-year-old, I attended Games One and Two of the 1977 NBA Finals at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. There were three NBA Hall of Famers in that spectacular series: Julius Erving, Dr. Jack Ramsay, and Bill Walton.
I also saw the Grateful Dead at The Spectrum in the 1980s. In that decade, they featured six magnificent musicians: Jerry Garcia, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, Brent Mydland, and Bobby Weir. On January 19, 1994, the Grateful Dead were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Bill Walton and Bobby Weir support many organizations, like the Rex Foundation. Thus, they have raised much money for many worthwhile causes.

I grew up in Penn Valley, Pennsylvania, so I attended many Phillies games at Veterans Stadium. In 1980, Pete Rose led the Phillies to their first World Series championship!
